The Only Picture I have
When I was growing up all we had was a simple ZENIT photo camera. It belonged to my aunt. All the family photos were taken with that camera. Later on, my aunt gave it to me as a birthday present. I think I was 10 at that time. Yes, I started to learn photography when I was only 10 and it quickly became my passion! Almost all the pictures that I have of my big family since then were done by me. I wish I took more!
I cannot explain how sad I am when I go back in time and look through my family’s photos and find just a few of them left since my mom and dad got married. In fact, the only picture I have of them as a bride and groom is this one.
They did not have a photographer at their wedding. There were no pictures. No wedding album. I would have absolutely nothing to look at if my mom did not insist to go to the photographer next day and get this picture done!
I love everything about it! My Mom and Dad will always be the most beautiful bride and groom to me I have ever seen! I examine every inch of it every time I look at it. Their facial expressions, the lighting, the dress even all the imperfections. I see my Father’s boutonniere was clipped to his suit with a safety pin. I see my mon’s hair sticking out of the veil a little bit and she had absolutely no make-up. I can even see someone finger prints on the image. I love it all.
But that’s the only picture I have!
It made me think… The pictures of your wedding and your family are not just for you. Your children, and grandchildren, and grand-grandchildren would want to have them. It would not matter how perfect or not perfect they are. They will need them and treasure them for the rest of their lives!
Do not underestimate your wedding photography. This is the most important part of your day.
Hire a great wedding photographer. Make a Wedding Album. Do it for your children!
With Love,
Lana
